Content: The 1982 season was an absolute highlight in the 50 years of the World Rally Championship. It was a duel of opposites between the Michèle Mouton and Walter Röhrl – woman against man, Audi against Opel, four-wheel drive against rear-wheel drive, modern turbo against the proven naturally aspirated engine. The duel was so rich in tension and drama that it is still unforgotten today. In the end, it was three wins for Mouton and two for Röhrl, but thanks to greater reliability, Röhrl secured the drivers´ title with a dramatic victory on the Ivory Coast. But Audi – also largely thanks to Mouton´s points – secured the manufacturers´ championship.
