Car: Opel Rekord C 1900 - Black Widow History: Following the model´s market launch, Anatole Lapine developed a racing version of the Opel Rekord C. Due to its black paintwork, this vehicle—which produced 180 hp (132 kW]—was nicknamed the "Black Widow" or "Taxi." Between 1967 and 1969, it was driven by figures such as Erich Bitter and Niki Lauda, though it failed to achieve major victories despite its spectacular handling characteristics. In the early 1970s, the "Black Widow" disappeared—minus its engine—near Vienna; the vehicle´s whereabouts remain unknown. In 2012, Opel Classic built a replica of the "Black Widow," enlisting Lapine´s assistance due to the lack of original blueprints.
